The Keystone School of Pastoral Care Ministry and Trauma Recovery Coaching
Your Calling Deserves Thoughtful Preparation.
Preparing the Person, Not Simply Teaching the Method
People who seek pastoral care bring more than problems to be solved.
They bring their histories, relationships, beliefs, fears, hopes, and often wounds that have remained unresolved for years.
Serving them well requires more than compassion, biblical knowledge, or familiarity with a particular approach to pastoral care. It calls for an understanding of the whole person and the ability to respond with wisdom, sensitivity, and discernment.
Keystone's educational approach brings together six essential areas
of preparation.

Students develop a biblical understanding of human dignity, suffering, hope, spiritual growth, and the restorative work of God, learning to apply Scripture thoughtfully to the complexities of human experience.
-
Students explore how painful experiences can affect emotions, beliefs, behavior, relationships, physical responses, and spiritual well-being, developing the sensitivity to recognize and respond appropriately to the effects of trauma.
-
Students are encouraged to examine their own attitudes, assumptions, emotional responses, and spiritual maturity while cultivating the self-awareness and discernment necessary for pastoral care.
-
Students develop skills in attentive listening, compassionate communication, understanding relational and family dynamics, and supporting individuals as they address the continuing effects of painful experiences.
-
Students receive specialized preparation in trauma recovery coaching, learning structured approaches to supporting individuals experiencing the lasting effects of painful life experiences.
